tired to the max!!!!
juz got back from 京东大峡谷 with junie and deqiang. it's a grand canyon at the outskirts of beijing. i think we are all supermen. we started the day by waking up at 245am to watch the champions league final. then at ard 430am we started making sushi for picnic later in the day. it was quite funny to see the sushi getting from very big to small small size. we were too ambitious at the start den ended up putting so much ingredients tt the sushi cannot be wrapped. we had "bahu-ham-cucumber-egg" sushi.
den at 6am we left the house. took a mrt den transferred to a bus, which took 1hr 30mins to reach 平谷. den transferred to yet another mini-bus which brought us to the 大峡谷 entrance. seemed like such a long day already but it was only 10am when we were all set to go.
we were greeted by 167 steps at the entrance! what a way to start the trip, so we decided to count every single step we climbed up for the day. there's a 走钢丝 activity but it seemed quite boring bcoz of all the safety netting, so we gave it a miss. it was followed by 水上吊篮. it's a flying-fox look alike thing, juz tt we get to sit in a basket instead of our own harness. the most amazing part is that the whole thing is man-powered. for the first part, the force carrying u forward is ur own weight, den it will come to a leveled part where u can continue moving only bcoz there's a man at the other side turning the wheel. i pity the guy's job!
den we continued our journey climbing more and more steps..... basically the place is full of steps and slopes. haha. there are 5 潭 there, each unique in their own way. with waterfalls and alot of water activities. so at 11am we reached the halfway mark and sat down for our lunch. yummy sushi!!
after walking for awhile more, we completed the whole park except for the part tt can only be reached by cable car. the challenging part has yet to come. awaiting us was this endless flight of steps, and they are not juz normal easy-to-walk steps. they are in all kinds of shapes and sizes and there will be trees in ur way to add to the obstacles. it took us 366 steps to reach the peak! crazy climb but it was definitely challenging and lotsa fun! feels great to stand on top of everything else and juz look into the distance. we were so impressed by this old couple who climbed up all the steep steps and at a v fast speed. 厉害!! =)
the going down was tougher in the sense tt it is v bad for the knees. by the time we exit the place it was only 3pm. we decided to reward ourselves with a good meal. always wanted to try their 蹲鱼 so we had 烤蹲鱼 and 炒蘑菇. the fish was good. it's one of the few times we get to eat fresh fish in china (esp those without so much bones).
since it was still early, we decided to go fruit-picking at the farm areas. pretty cool. first time i picked fruits myself. we chose peaches and strawberries. although it's more expensive than normal, but it's the experience tt matters!
after tt was home sweet home. but the queue for the bus back was a nightmare. we queued for abt 40mins.... totally reminded me of ystd.
total steps count for the day: 984!!! (not including the going down steps)
this wkend was exhausting, both physically and money-wise.haha.. as quoted from junie, it's a "scream-ur-lungs-out saturday" and a "walk-till-u-die sunday".... but it was no doubt fun!!! =)
